E@rth’s letter for children

Dear children,

The rubbishes are covering me now.
Help me!

Halloween.Teacher Daniela Ionescu and her class III D.

Hello,
My name is Daniela Ionescu, and I am a teacher for primary school. Also I teach English sometimes, and I am Gina’s colleague too.
This was a short activity to celebrate Halloween. My children from class 3D were dressed up in ghosts, witches, monsters, and other characters that they thought were appropriate for this event.
Before the beginning of the activity they really scared me first; they turned off the lights and hid behind the desks. When I came into the classroom, they shouted: “Booooo!” like in the poems they learned. It was a surprise for me…
The classroom was decorated with objects made of natural materials; there were Jack-o-Lanterns, gourds, pumpkins, and lots of fruit: apples, nuts, pears, grapes, quinces and even corn and leaves. Also there were objects made of recycled materials and little toys bought by the children.
The room was lightened with candles to make the atmosphere and there was a red lamp in the back of the classroom.
We were happy to celebrate Halloween in our country because even it isn’t a fest of ours; it brings joy and happiness for children. They had a small party after the activity – they ate cookies, biscuits, candies, drank juice and danced. All in all it was quite a party for everybody.

HALLOWE'EN. Teacher Adriana Badicu.

It's been 2000 years since we have celebrated the Halowe'een. It was during the Celts, people who lived then when Irish people live today. the 1st of November was the date when the summer ended and the crops were gathered and it was then when winter gegan. winter was often associated with death. Then the evil spirits the witches, the ghosts and the devils were spoiling the crops were hauneting the people. the 31st of October was the sacred day of magic.nowadays, the hallowe'en is different turning into a party were people get dressed and stroll to people's houses to take part in the parties or to get different small presents ( cakes, sweets). The Hallowe'en was also borrowed by another countries. in our country it has a new meaning and it is related to Vlad Tepes. It attracts , fascinated by this legendary character, the Count Dracula. The Hotel Count Dracula inaugureted in 1983, built in the ancient medieval styl, is situated between Bistrita Nasaud and Suceava counties and it is placed at 1116 meteres high, near the National Road 17. This hotel becomes full of people in the Hallowe'en night. Fiction is mixed with reality tourists wearing masks, strange and frightening costumes dance all night organise contests, eat blooded wine. The climax is the mecting with Count Dracula exactly at midnight. He appears from a tomb wich is placed in the underground of the hotel, trying to scare everybody.

The Muddy Volcanoes: unique in Europe

Would you like to take some good Martian or Lunar pictures? There is a spectacular place in Romania, at Berca, nearby Buzau, called the Muddy Volcanoes. This is a natural reservation very scarce in vegetation, where the soil is made of dried mud coming out from small volcanoes mouths. The land is soft, but it is possible to walk on it. Yet, in some parts you have the strange sensation that it will collapse and you’ll end up swallowed by the mud.

2009 - the year of creativity and innovations in Europa

All the children are going to make original works. They are using for the first time materials that are never used before; they are trying to find the best and originals methods to protect the planet.
Children and the teachers are using computer software to modify pictures dimensions, so they are not going to occupy to many hard disk space. They are going to use “Adobe Photoshop CS”, Paint for editing and scanning of the pictures.
